Perodactyl is da maan!

Saturday, May 19th, 2007

Oh in case you’re wondering who the schmitzen-burger-box-of-spikes Perodactyl is, well… He’s the same old, our very own - Pero! :P
Now this little nincumpoop sent me to Veoh saying that it’s better than YouTUBE and all the likes. At first I didn’t wanna believe him, but I decided to check it out anyway. To my amazement, it’s true!

Not only is Veoh’s interface more professional looking, it has many superb tools and services to offer too. For example, it’s widget for blogs and personal sites which is FULLY customizable! The Veoh video player, much like iTunes, except that here you can view videos from ALL networks! Isn’t this just cool? And you can download videos you like from Veoh directly from the site OR if you have the Veoh player installed on your machine, you can simply pick and download videos from it too. PLUS! If you happen to like a certain user’s posted videos, you can subscribe to their stream much like the PODcasts in iTunes.

I’m in love with Veoh! Thanks Perody. You suck bigtime!
Just kidding… j00 izz da maahn! :D

Opera 9.2 cannot read multiple layer CSS?

Saturday, May 19th, 2007

The reason why I ask is this: This blog uses multiple layered divs to build the background image stack. The very first layer loads up a simple gradient tile for the “luminance” effect. The second layer loads a heavier, more elaborate design for the background. Yes, the one with the vector rays and those little knick knacks.

A third layer then loads the native CSS of Wordpress that is, page, sidebar, so on and so forth.

Here’s where the problem arises. Firefox can read it perfectly, IE7 can read all background information perfectly, Flock (which also runs on Mozilla’s engine) can read it perfectly, even IE6 (which people have a hard time optimizing code for); BUT, Opera 9.2 (the latest release) is a different story. It won’t show up the very first layer of the simple tiled background, for some strangest of reasons that I, for the life of me, cannot comprehend.

And if I’m right, Opera 9.2 uses Sun Java 1.5 runtime environment. Bleh! Even when I learned to program in Java around some 7 years back, I NEVER liked the “feel” of it. Guess what? It’s still a no-good-er on my list. Not that I have something against Java or the use of it, or that I discourage AJAX sites and any other script based on Java like green tacos and chocolate starfish; I just don’t like it. It’s a personal preference. I’m allowed to have a few of those right? ;)

Wordpress 2.2 “Getz” released for download on the 15th of May and it’s great. New features, new database settings, more efficient and with cool new widgets!

Now to justify the title - To go through all of that, all I had to give was two clicks of the mouse. Yes! Just two!

Get the new Wordpress 2.2 here
